In this video, I demonstrate the upper and lower extremity dynamic stretches from the handout you received from me. You should perform 10 repetitions per side for each stretch in a nice, smooth fashion--no jerky motions. Skip any stretches that hurt or that you are unable to safely perform, and remember to contact me if you have any questions.

You can schedule an appointment by clicking on any MAKE APPOINTMENT button throughout the website, or you can save the following link to your bookmarks: https://go.oncehub.com/omchirokc. Scheduling is easier through this platform, and so is rescheduling. Plus, you get immediate appointment acceptance--no more waiting until the next morning for me to approve the appointment if you scheduled last night at 2 AM!
You'll want to get in to see me before this Saturday, 6.16.18, because we are closed for the 2018 Kansas City Heart & Stroke Walk/5K Run that day. We're on the main route, so parking would be pretty tricky, and they estimate 8000-9000 participants this year! By the way, you still have time to listen to your head and heart by donating and/or participating; check the event website out at www.KCHeartWalk.org for more info. You'll find the route below.
We are now located inside Jensen Chiropractic & Acupuncture. Parking is available right in front in the spaces marked JENSEN. Our sign in the window is coming soon. You may relax in the lobby if Dr. McCormick is finishing up with a patient when you arrive for your appointment. Our hours and all other contact information are the same. We're excited to see you at the new location, so give us a call to schedule your next visit!
The office will close at noon on Friday and will be closed all day Saturday this week. There is still time to get in before that so just call 816.561.1185 or visit omchirokc.com to schedule. We are back to normal hours next week. You're probably wondering what I'm doing in this picture, right? I'm checking for tight hip flexors. "You're checking for tight hip flexors using the arms?" you might be asking. Yep, the iliopsoas--composed of iliacus, psoas major, and psoas minor--connects the femur (your thigh bone) to your pelvis and lumbar spine (low back bones). Here's a picture from the Atlas of Human Anatomy. At the same time, you've got your latissimus dorsi (AKA lats; AKA chin-up muscles) connecting the humerus (upper arm bone) to one of the vertebra that the iliopsoas connects to. The lats also blend into the thoracolumbar fascia, which overlies all of the bony structures that iliopsoas connects to in the low back. The following picture from my textbook shows you these structures. When the iliopsoas is pulling tighter on one side, that pulls on the bony structures that also attach to the thoracolumbar fascia which pulls on those lats. Then, one arm appears to be shorter than the other. When this is the case, I check for trigger points in the iliopsoas at the insertion sites on the thigh and at the muscle belly along the anterior pelvis. I treat the iliopsoas using the STAR (Scar Tissue And Rehabilitation) technique, and then recheck arm length. This almost always corrects the arm length inequality, and it's part of the protocol I use to correct low back problems. It's really cool to witness the whole process; so the next time you come in, bring a family member or friend so that they can observe the treatment!
We will be closed Friday and Saturday for St. Patrick's weekend and will resume regular hours next week for the remainder of the month. If you aren't already on the schedule for this week and need to get in, call 816.561.1185 or click through to schedule online ASAP.
Acupuncture can be used in conjunction with chiropractic care for expediting the healing process bioenergetically. Are curious about whether acupuncture can help you but frightened of needles? As you can see, the needles I use are thin and short; but I have a variety of alternatives to needles including acupressure, microcurrent, laser, and essential oils. If you have more questions before scheduling your visit, don't hesitate to contact me!
January is a busy month for me, so I created this handy schedule so that you know which days we have appointments available. You can call 816.561.1185 or click here to schedule.
Happy Thanksgiving! The office will be closed the rest of the holiday week and will resume normal business hours next week beginning on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 8 a.m.
